Oscar The Orangutan: An Ethical & Allergy-Friendly Chocolate + GIVEAWAY

When it comes to sweet treats it’s usually my hubby who dishes them out. I’d love to but we have a thing going on in our house where I have to be healthy cop and he’s treat cop.

But I think I’ve just discovered a way I can be healthy cop and still give them chocolate!

Introducing The Chocolate Yogi company. An ethical Australian, allergy-friendly chocolate company and social enterprise. Did somebody say healthy CHOCOLATE?

The Chocolate Yogi company has made Oscar The Orangutan bars, and 5 cents from the sale of every treat goes to The Organutan Project.

As a non-profit the group supports projects that face the world’s remaining fragmented Orangutan populations, including fighting deforestation and habitat loss.

It buys tracts of rain forest land in Sumatra and Borneo Indonesia for orangutans. Did you know 6000 of these incredible souls are killed every year?

The Chocolate Yogi company wants to raise at least $30,000 for the project in the next year! With this much money The Organutan Project can buy 100,000 hectares of much-needed land to help protect these amazing creatures.

What I love more than chocolate…. is chocolate with a cause!

Oscar the Orangutan bars are:

  • Completely organic
  • Vegan friendly
  • Dairy free
  • Gluten free
  • Soy free
  • Refined sugar-free
  • Made with LOVE and a social conscience
  • Absolutely delicious (I should know I stole one from the kids!)

Malindi Lovegrove is the creative director behind the company and when she asked if I was keen to spread the word I was like, YES I want to shout it from the rooftops!

You see I’m a sucker for trying to do a little good on this blog. And in this instance if you buy this chocolate your kids will love your forever AND you are helping The Orangutan Project.

Look I could talk forever about this great cause, but you can read more here about Malindi and Ed (from NSW) started a business with ZERO money in the bank.

Their story is truly inspirational. And how they make the chocolate is equally as impressive! You can learn more here.

How YOU can support the Oscar the Orangutan Project

What I’d LOVE you to do is spread the word about this incredible company, maybe you own a business or know someone who does and is looking for an allergy-friendly product to sell?

Perhaps in the lead up to Christmas you’d like to buy a box of 50 and sell at your sports, swimming or dance club? Maybe you’ve got a family member or child with allergies and could buy a few dozen for a special occasion?

I implore you to support this company and jump on board this great cause – that is putting the needs of Organutans over a massive profit margin.

They only cost $1.70 or for $75 you can get a box of 100!

  1. well what an amazing cause and combining with chocolate with my love of saving animals and their habitats what more could you want!!! I’m going to hunt them down and get my selfie on 🙂

  2. We’ve been eating Oscar here too and omg you have no idea how excited I am to find chocolate that I can actually eat on my elimination diet for bub. I’ve missed chocolate SO BAD! I need to buy heaps more haha.

  3. We are always looking for great dairy free treats for our lactose intollerant middle guy and make an effort to use palm oil free or sustainable products in an effort to help the orangutans. These new chocs sound great.

  4. Ok I will totally put my hand up as a chocolate whore! This is perfect timing, as a couple of parents at my gymnastics club( in relation to our upcoming concert interval snack bar) have stated their vegan/egg free lifestyle. These would be welcomed additions to our arsenal of yummy offerings.

  5. I’ve started to go low sugar with Mr 8 to help with his behaviour and chocolate is one thing we haven’t found a tasty alternative for. He’d love these as an after dinner treat.
