My baby boy – one of the top three gifts I’ve ever received!

It doesn’t seem right not to write a little birthday message to my precious baby who is 6 today! Mainly because he’s some of the reason why I started blogging.

When he was one I decided that since I was isolated and working from home with three young children, I need an outlet.

Somewhere to vent. A place to connect because I couldn’t really face being a part of the real world.

Today I celebrate the incredible son that I have been gifted and love with every ounce of my being.

He has THE biggest heart in the world, and when I open the pantry door on my toe he rushes over to see if I’m okay.

When I swear because I dropped a jar of Vegemite on the tiled and it smashed because I was in a hurry – he tells me to say ‘bonkers’ instead of swearing.

This morning he got some presents and one was a three-pack of Kinder Surprise eggs, and he happily dished out some of the chocolate to his drooling siblings.

This child would give you the shirt off his back. He is incredible. For a six-year-old his emotional maturity is off the charts and he’s more empathetic than some adults I know.

Every night he asks me for a ‘back scratch and lullaby’ and while it’s only short-lived as I’m usually tired and grumpy, I get down beside him and smother him with love.

In the mornings I tell him to get in my belly and he rushes in for a cuddle. Then he either tells me he loves me, that my breath stinks or he asks to leave so he can go and play Lego.

With a thousand different facial expressions and sayings, he has his father and I in hysterics and exchanging knowing glances at dinner time.

Oh what a gift my little Lolly is. I have no doubt he’s been here before because his soul is wise.

I tell all my children there is nothing they can’t do, and he’s taken this on board and gives everything a go.

He brings joy to all those he meets and when he arrives at class his peers rush to say hello and he flashes them his cheeky grin.

The world is a better place with him in it and I am grateful he is a part of our lives. I often ask him ‘what on earth would I do without you?’

And he just shakes his head and gives me a knowing look.

Happy birthday my darling child, my love for you is immeasurable.

But because I know you like me to be specific, how about I say that I love you as much as there are stars in the sky and grains of sand on the shores.

Thank you for being you. You’re perfect just the way you are.

Sometimes I wonder where the past six years have gone, they have truly just whizzed by and parenting for me has changed so much.

But children are a gift, they teach us to be grateful, to slow down, to see the wonder in all things and most importantly how to love unconditionally.

Got a child with a wise soul?

What’s happening at your place today?
