Don’t give boring presents this Christmas!

*This post is brought to you by Shop A Docket

Are you flapping around like a blue arsed fly trying to get everything done in time for the 25th?

Don’t forget a few spare gifts for unexpected visitors and to give the car a once over before travelling long distances.

We’re sweating up a storm around these parts and the kids are in crazy school holiday mode playing hairdressers and doctors.

I’m not going to check on them, my youngest needs a mop chop any way and at least they’re not hovering around me telling me they are BORED!

With just a few pressies left to buy I’m sorted but if you’re stuck or about to buy someone sock, jocks or chocs… STOP!

Here’s a few different ideas taken from the Shop A Docket online site, and for those still keeping supermarket receipts, all coupons are now online.

Top 10 gift ideas and ways to save money this silly season.

1. If you’re booking your next holiday through Webjet you can save $50 off your accommodation bill.

2. Chill out at the Ice Bar Melbourne and find out what it’s like to be an Eskimo with a buy one get one free deal? Free drink included.

This is on my bucket list!

Would you like ice with that?

3. Want to print out photos to send in your Xmas cards but your magenta or cyan has run out? There’s a coupon for 15 per cent off ink and toner cartridges.

4. Stuck with what to buy your teen? There’s a Shop A Docket that offers a free driving lesson.

5. Sweeten up the in-laws with surprise case of wine delivered to their door.

6. For those on the Gold Coast snaffle down a yummy buffet breakfast at Sea World Resort – buy one get one half price with kids between 4 to 13 just $1.

7. Give someone a voucher to go bowling, catch a movie or play golf.

8.  If you’re sick of the theme parks make your way to the picturesque Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary where adults pay kids prices.

9. This is what I would LOVE to get, a gift voucher for a beauty spa, there’s coupons for up to 30 per cent off treatments online.

10. Rainy days, late nights or when you need the kids to chill out, save heaps on DVD rentals. Don’t be a pirate!

There are so many other great meal deals and other ways to save money at Shop A Docket, if you can’t tell I’m a little bit of a fan of coupons.

Anyhoe the kids have stopped playing and are now sweating all over me – UGH.

I’m trying really hard not to turn on the AC but it’s so hard. Might just chuck everyone in the pool! Keep cool ’til after school yo’ll.

What unique gift did you buy this year? Or are you still going?

What do YOU want for Xmas?

  1. I want to be in a Secret Santa with you Emily! I’m like you, love a good spa voucher as it’s not something I’d usually buy myself. The most unique gift I bought this year was one for my mum – all of the names of family members (her and my Dad, kids and grandkids) as wooden scrabble pieces intertwined together and beautifully framed. I love personalised gifts – looking forward to seeing her face when she opens it. Hope you manage to stay cool. I’ll just be happy if I can make it through the school holidays without falling to pieces!

  2. We’re off to a Christmas party on Saturday where we play a funny Christmas raffle/gift game. I bought a ukulele and a game of quoits. My motivation was being able make plenty of jokes about quoits. Lots and lots of quoit jokes!

Never mind the countdown to Christmas. I’m counting down til the 29th! xx

  3. I have to admit I’m feeling the pinch so decided instead of giving my beloved niece money I’m giving her some gorgeous fabric I received in 1995 from India (as a gift) and some silk I bought for myself in Cambodia when I lived there in 1997. I’ve saved both, hoping to one day lose enough weight to feel I could get something fabulous made. Instead I’m 30kg or so heavier and decided not to leave the fabric wallowing in my wardrobe any longer.

  4. Great post. Great ideas.
Look at that crocodile!! That poor chicken (LOL)

  5. Great post- I’m obsessed with my Shop A Docket and always check out the wide variety of goods and services on the back of my docket each time I go shopping and with Christmas just next week I’m doing it even more!!!

  6. Some great ideas here Em! I adore beauty spa type vouchers, it’s like giving me an hour off 🙂

  7. I missed out on Currumbin during our last trip to Aust! Would love to have a visit there the next time we go!

Happy holidays to you and your family!! xox

  8. I didn’t realise Shop a Dockets were now online and I could use them there, often I look at the location of the “freebie” and think too hard or too far away. Now it’s just a click way.

  9. I really don’t look at shopper dockets but seems I should. I am all shopped though for Christmas, with the exception of braving the supermarket tomorrow morning (and again Tuesday/Wednesday) for those last things. It’s ugly out there.

  10. I have no idea what I’m getting for christmas this year since Trents leaving it until next Monday to go shopping it could end up being a disaster! He has got me massage vouchers in the past though 🙂

  11. I’m really struggling to figure out gifts this year and it makes me so stressed. Pre-hubby and children I would have my Christmas shopping done in October, now we’re less than a week away and I STILL don’t have things sorted! Maybe I’ll check out my dockets for ideas!

  12. Those are some great ideas, Em! I’m also caught with lack of presents and grabbing a bottle of wine from our cellar isn’t always the best idea – especially for non-drinkers.
And chocolates…whatta bore! Merry Christmas to you and yours, lovely! xxx
